Is anyone else growing weary of the expression "It's like déjà vu all over again" ?? It was funny the first 300 times, but now it's just getting old.

pet peeve #1
People who carelessly block the passage of other people - in the supermarket aisles, in the hallway or the stairwell, at the bottom of the escalator ...

minimum wage
With all the baby boomers reaching retirement age, and many having no pension and little or no retirement savings, the competition for low paying jobs will become fierce. Retirees will be competing against teenagers for minimum wage jobs. And guess who will be hired.
"That's soooooo unfair."

modern cars
When today's cars become prohibitively expensive to repair in ten years, what will people of "lesser means" drive?

offshoring
Before offshoring, the CEO made up to 500 times the salary of his lowest paid worker.
Now that his lowest paid worker is in India, he makes 2000 times that salary.

cell phones
Some of today's cell phones have cameras, (still and full motion,) video games, web access, text messaging, e-mail, address books, calculators, calendars, voice recorders, downloadable ringtones and screen savers, walkie-talkies, MP3 players, Global Positioning, and what have you.
Tomorrow's phones will start your car, record your daytime soaps, monitor your house, your baby, and your blood pressure, and cook your supper.
The other day, a friend said, "Call me!"
Now if I can only figure out how to make a call ...

You're shaking my confidence daily
Whoa, Ophelia, I'm down on my knees
I'm begging you please ..."

opportunity
You know the expression, "When one door closes, another one opens"?
That could explain why it is always so drafty in here.

games
OK, I have no duplicates in any of my columns, no duplicates in any of my rows, and no duplicates in any of my grids. I can hardly wait until tomorrow to see how I did.

gilligan
Bob Denver passed away. Gilligan's Island. Now that was one show of which I could never get enough. Bob was one of the best actors ever. He and Jim Baccus, who played Mr Howell. Jim's portrayal of the drunk pilot in It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World sealed it for me. It doesn't get any better than Bob Denver and Jim Baccus.

resource reductions
Is it just me, or does it seem counterintuitive to expect the remaining employees to be able to do the same amount of work, at the same rate of productivity, after the boss cans most of the experienced staff?

the 40 year old virgin
Is it just me, or was The 40 Year Old Virgin not all it was hyped to be? The movie critic in our local paper said to bring your kids to see this movie. Right. That's what I would do.

help
Is it just me, or does it seem counterintuitive to shoot at the people who are trying to help you?
Is it just me, or does it seem counterproductive to pull emergency personnel off rescue missions to put them on law enforcement matters?
